Mexican nonwovens producer digitises finished-goods warehouse

Polímeros y Derivados has introduced Mecalux Easy WMS at its finished-goods warehouse in León, Guanajuato, Mexico, as the nonwovens producer moves away from manual stock control.

The company supplies material to the automotive, cleaning, construction and plastic-tarpaulin industries. Its warehouse previously depended on manual routines supported by enterprise resource planning software. The new system is intended to improve identification of finished rolls, accelerate warehouse activity and provide more consistent customer service.

Linking warehouse data with production

Easy WMS connects with the manufacturer’s Microsoft Dynamics ERP and supports the management of several daily orders, including orders with as many as 40 lines. Radio-frequency devices read the company’s two-dimensional labels and record product dimensions, lot data, serial numbers and customer codes.

This information enables pallets arriving from production to be identified accurately at receipt. It also creates a digital record for the large rolls of nonwoven material as they move through storage and order fulfilment.

The implementation was designed around Polímeros y Derivados’ existing quality-control procedures. Data captured by the warehouse platform was aligned with the company’s internal information-management framework, allowing the new software to support established controls rather than operate as a separate layer.

From colour coding to scalable control

The project replaces inventory processes previously managed through colour coding with a computerised approach that can expand alongside the business. For an operation handling products used across several industrial markets, that change can reduce dependence on local knowledge and make stock information easier to access.

Supply Chain Analytics within Easy WMS adds operational reporting, giving managers visibility into warehouse performance and a basis for day-to-day decisions. The deployment illustrates how manufacturers can use an integrated WMS to connect shop-floor output, warehouse execution and customer-specific information without abandoning existing ERP and quality systems.
