Barcelona to host FIATA logistics meeting alongside SIL 2027
Barcelona is set to become a major European meeting point for freight forwarding and supply-chain technology in June 2027. The FIATA-REU Field Meeting will run from 9 to 11 June alongside SIL Barcelona, bringing together forwarders, logistics operators, cargo agents, shippers, ports, airports and other supply-chain companies.
The event was announced by FIATA Director General Stéphane Graber during the federation’s 2026 World Congress in Milan, held during FIATA’s centenary year. The Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) secured the hosting agreement, positioning the Catalan capital as a focal point for discussions on the future of international logistics.
A platform for digital supply chains
Holding the two events at the same venue is expected to increase their international reach and create opportunities for companies working on operational efficiency, connected transport and logistics innovation. The programme will place Barcelona at the centre of conversations about supply chains linking Europe with the Mediterranean, Africa, Asia and Latin America.
For industrial businesses, the value of the combined format will lie in access to a broad network of transport and trade specialists. FIATA’s work includes international freight rules, standardised documentation, professional training and the digitalisation of logistics processes. These areas affect how manufacturers coordinate shipments, exchange data and manage cross-border compliance.
CZFB Executive President Pere Navarro said the appointment recognised Barcelona’s logistics ecosystem and could generate new collaboration and business opportunities. General Director Blanca Sorigué added that the meeting would help highlight the region’s capacity for innovation while attracting expertise and international connections.
International representation
FIATA, founded in Vienna in 1926 and headquartered in Geneva, represents 106 national associations from nearly 150 countries. It speaks for more than 50,000 sector companies and has over 4,700 individual members. The federation cooperates with organisations including the WTO and IATA on trade facilitation, common standards and the professional development of logistics.
With FIATA’s European gathering and SIL Barcelona taking place together, the city aims to reinforce its role as a logistics gateway for Southern Europe and a connection point between global markets.
