Fiege digitises control of 4.7 million load carriers

Fiege is beginning a group-wide digitalisation of its load carrier operations with Loopario, formerly known as Logistikbude. The logistics provider is first applying the technology to tyre racks before extending it to its wider pool of approximately 4.7 million load carriers.

The project is designed to give Fiege a continuous digital view of where carriers are located, how they move through the network and what those movements are worth commercially. The company operates 131 sites in 15 countries, handling Euro pallets, mesh boxes, H1 pallets, customer-specific equipment and specialist tyre racks.

Connecting movement data with financial control

Until now, operational and commercial information has been distributed across several systems. Some movement records arrive automatically from the transport management system, while monthly valuation is handled separately. Loopario’s LCMS is intended to unite those streams, linking physical transactions with their financial assessment.

For industrial and logistics organisations, that connection can make discrepancies visible earlier and support more reliable inventory calculations. Fiege also expects standardised workflows, fewer repetitive manual activities and faster reconciliation with partners. Staff time released from routine administration can then be directed towards higher-value operational work.

Initial deployment precedes wider rollout

A consulting engagement began in November 2025 to review the potential of Fiege’s existing processes. Operational implementation started in July 2026, when tyre racks at all Fiege tyre sites were managed in the platform alongside the incumbent systems. The first phase runs through October 2026, covering process mapping, information consolidation and further workflow standardisation.

Following an assessment of the results, Fiege plans to expand the system to other load carrier categories from the second quarter of 2027. Its objectives include assessing the commercial value of pallet and carrier movements more consistently, increasing automation and strengthening the services available to customers.

The relationship also has an investment dimension. Fiege’s Ventures unit, through F-LOG, already holds a stake in Loopario. Markus Hüting of F-LOG said the platform’s use within Fiege provides a practical demonstration of the technology’s maturity.
