Ewals adds 27 aerodynamic Volvo trucks to UK fleet
Ewals Cargo Care is upgrading its UK transport operation with 27 Volvo FH Aero trucks, a fleet investment designed to reduce operating costs while improving the working environment for long-haul drivers.
The first five vehicles have already arrived. Further deliveries are expected at roughly five trucks per week until the order is complete. All units will be based in the UK and will replace older vehicles as part of the company’s established fleet renewal cycle.

Aerodynamics turns into an operating advantage
The FH Aero is entering Ewals Cargo Care’s UK fleet for the first time, although the model is already used by the company’s continental European operations. The existing European experience provided an established operational reference as the UK business assessed its next vehicle choice.
Its business case combines acquisition cost with expected running expenses. The truck’s cab has been designed to manage airflow more effectively, taking advantage of European rules that permit a slightly longer cab. Volvo’s camera-based mirror system also replaces conventional external mirrors, reducing aerodynamic resistance and supporting lower fuel use and emissions.
For fleet operators, such features are significant because fuel consumption remains closely linked to both vehicle design and the consistency of daily utilisation. The technology does not operate in isolation: its value depends on putting modern equipment into regular, high-mileage service.
Technology paired with driver usability
Ewals is also positioning the investment around driver experience. The vehicles include contemporary equipment intended to improve visibility, comfort and ease of operation. In a sector where long-distance work places sustained demands on drivers, those factors can support satisfaction, retention and reliable performance.
Once all deliveries are completed, the UK operation will have approximately 90 trucks. It will continue to run a mixed fleet from several leading manufacturers, making the Volvo order a targeted addition rather than a move to a single-brand model.
The programme illustrates how routine replacement can serve broader operational goals. By rotating out older assets, Ewals is adding aerodynamic technology and driver-focused equipment while maintaining a planned approach to fleet sustainability and customer service.
