Girteka orders 900 Mercedes-Benz Actros L ProCabin trucks
Girteka is placing technology at the centre of its fleet renewal strategy with an order for 900 Mercedes-Benz Actros L ProCabin trucks. The agreement was concluded during IAA Transportation in Hannover and extends the transport company’s established relationship with Daimler Truck.
The first phase is already under way. Girteka expects 500 Actros L ProCabin vehicles to enter its fleet during 2026, followed by the delivery of the additional 900 trucks in the first half of 2027. The schedule gives the operator a structured path for replacing vehicles while maintaining capacity across its European network.
Technology at fleet scale
Girteka operates about 6,500 trucks under its own ownership, making it Europe’s largest asset-based road transport fleet. At that scale, renewal is not simply a purchasing decision. Vehicle specification affects fuel and operating efficiency, service reliability, safety performance and the quality of the workplace provided to drivers.
The Actros L ProCabin is intended for long-haul work and combines updated efficiency, safety and comfort features. Its assistance systems can monitor the vehicle’s surroundings, identify possible hazards and support drivers in critical situations, while remaining subject to the driver’s responsibility and the systems’ operating limits.
Operational resilience and driver support
For Girteka, the technology has particular relevance to temperature-controlled and high-value transport, where consistent execution and dependable equipment are commercially important. Newer vehicles can also help standardise the operating environment across a large fleet, simplifying the adoption of common safety and service practices.
Edvardas Liachovičius, chief executive of Girteka Group, said the partnership enables the company to introduce new technologies, improve drivers’ working conditions and sustain the reliability expected by customers. Mercedes-Benz Trucks chief executive Achim Puchert described the order as evidence of shared ambitions for safer and more efficient long-distance transport.
The investment illustrates how industrial fleet operators are linking renewal with broader operational goals. Rather than treating trucks as interchangeable assets, large logistics companies are using vehicle technology, support networks and driver ergonomics together to protect service quality as their networks grow. Girteka’s continuing replacement programme therefore connects capacity planning with road safety and workforce conditions.
