HelloFresh expands connected control across electric delivery fleet

HelloFresh is extending its digital fleet strategy in the Benelux after selecting Samsara as its telematics partner. The meal-kit company plans to equip more than 500 electric delivery vans operating from over 10 regional hubs with a common platform for visibility, safety and vehicle operations.

The decision follows a pilot in the Netherlands. For a delivery network handling time-sensitive food products, the rollout is intended to connect several operational priorities that are often managed through separate systems: driver behaviour, vehicle condition, temperature control and daily workflow execution.

One platform for distributed fleet operations

HelloFresh Benelux will use Samsara’s open platform for telematics, real-time safety coaching and temperature monitoring. Drivers will also work with the Samsara Driver App, while the technology is designed to connect with HelloFresh’s existing proprietary IT environment rather than operate as an isolated layer.

That integration is particularly relevant to multi-site electric fleets. Regional hubs need consistent information about vehicles and deliveries, while operations teams require timely data to identify issues before they affect service. Temperature monitoring adds another control point, helping protect food quality during the final-mile journey.

Data-led safety and efficiency

Mark Sugirtharajah, Senior Director Logistics Europe at HelloFresh, said the partnership would support a stronger safety culture by giving drivers feedback on their driving style. The stated objective is to reduce incidents proactively and improve protection for road users and local communities.

For Samsara, the deployment illustrates how connected fleet technology can bring safety, cargo protection and operational efficiency into a single view. In practice, the value of the rollout will depend on how effectively teams use the data across hubs, drivers and support functions.

The programme also shows that electrification is not only a vehicle procurement decision. As fleets become distributed and more complex, digital tools must help companies monitor performance, support drivers and maintain product conditions in real time. HelloFresh’s Benelux deployment positions the connected platform as part of that wider operating model.
