Hira Industries turns vertical space into warehouse capacity
Hira Industries has redesigned its warehouse around vertical capacity, using high-level storage and specialised forklifts to address a shortage of floor space. The facility now accommodates nearly 4,000 pallet positions, compared with approximately 1,000 previously.
The investment followed the company’s expansion across the GCC, India, Southeast Asia and the United States. Rising inventory volumes had placed pressure on the existing operation, making a larger footprint an unattractive or insufficient answer. Instead, Hira chose to increase the amount of usable cubic space inside its current site.
Technology matched to the layout
Racking was extended to heights of up to 15 metres, while materials can be stored as high as 18 metres. Combilift, working with UAE dealer Kanoo Machinery, surveyed the site and analysed Hira’s processes before developing a revised warehouse layout.
The solution included four articulated Aisle Master forklifts. Their narrow-aisle design allows operators to move through the high-density arrangement and reach upper storage levels without sacrificing access. The machines also support high-level picking, helping connect raw-material and finished-goods areas within a continuous workflow.
Safety and operational control
Space efficiency was only one part of the project. The forklifts feature cameras, laser guidance and lift-height preselection. These functions give operators better visibility and more consistent positioning when loads are placed or retrieved at height, while reducing the physical demands of repeated handling.
Hira’s warehouse and operations teams say the redesigned facility has improved both capacity and material flow. The project demonstrates how manufacturers with constrained sites can use layout engineering and targeted equipment upgrades to support growth without automatically adding more land or floor area.
For Hira, the expanded storage base strengthens its ability to manage production requirements and customer deliveries as the company continues to serve multiple international markets.
