Reusable pallet cover targets stretch-film waste

A reusable pallet packaging system from South Korea is entering the European market with a direct operational alternative to disposable stretch film. Ecobundle, made by Jooyeong P&S Corporation and distributed internationally by Chempeople, combines a belt and cover made from high-tenacity PVC-coated polyester fabric.

The system is designed for standard pallets between 950 and 1,100mm, while accommodating cargo-volume variation of approximately 20%. Operators can secure a load in one to two minutes without specialist machinery or formal training. For industrial sites, that makes the change less dependent on capital expenditure, line modification or new automated wrapping equipment.

Payback built around repeated use

According to field and deployment data supplied by the manufacturer, an Ecobundle unit recovers its purchase cost after about 35 uses. At a usage rate of 20 pallet cycles per month, this corresponds to roughly seven weeks. Across a stated 600-use lifecycle, the company calculates a 93% net cost reduction against single-use stretch wrap, including a conservative allowance for 20% loss and damage.

The environmental case is similarly focused on repeatability. Over 365 uses, the system is reported to cut associated carbon dioxide emissions by 95% compared with conventional film and avoid 650g of plastic waste for each pallet-wrapping cycle. Each unit is designed for more than 1,000 reuses, while replaceable components can extend service life without discarding the complete assembly.

Operational evidence and compliance

South Korean parcel operator Ilyang Logis introduced Ecobundle at its Okcheon Distribution Centre in 2023. The site recorded a 30% cost reduction during its first year and a 97% reduction in packaging waste over a two-year pilot. Staff who initially opposed the change later described the reusable system as quicker and easier to handle than stretch film.

The product is offered in Standard Tarpaulin, Fixed/Pallet-Anchored and Mesh versions. The latter is intended for produce, frozen goods and other cargo requiring ventilation. A polypropylene variant, offered in transparent and coloured formats, is intended to meet applicable PPWR material requirements from August 2026. The company is positioning the system as a practical way for logistics operators to prepare for the EU requirement that 40% of transport packaging be reusable by 2030.
