Ewals Cargo Care centralises UK fleet operations at new hub
Ewals Cargo Care has opened a new UK and Ireland Trucking Hub in Godmanchester, Cambridgeshire, consolidating activities that were previously split between separate administration and vehicle locations.
The four-acre site is positioned close to the A14 and A1, giving the operator a practical connection between southern ports, the Midlands and northern England. It accommodates trucks, trailers and staff vehicles, while smaller supporting locations remain in Immingham and Seaham.
A central operating platform
The facility is intended to function as the main coordination point for Ewals Cargo Care’s UK fleet. Modern offices, improved security, dedicated driver welfare areas and training facilities bring operational and people-focused functions onto one site. An outsourced maintenance partner is also based there, helping reduce vehicle downtime and unnecessary movements away from planned routes.
For industrial logistics operators, the model illustrates how physical infrastructure can support more consistent fleet control without relying solely on additional vehicles. Bringing dispatch-related activities, driver support and maintenance closer together can simplify communication and make capacity easier to manage as demand changes.
Designed for expansion
Steve Foster, UK Depot Manager, said the investment provides the infrastructure required for evolving customer supply chains and creates a platform for sustainable growth. Ewals Cargo Care has operated in the area for more than 20 years, but its earlier arrangement made further expansion more difficult.
The site is designed to support present operations while leaving room for future development. Its location also limits off-route running, while the on-site maintenance arrangement is expected to help keep vehicles available for service. Together with the Immingham and Seaham facilities, the hub strengthens the company’s UK transport network and supports movements to and from Europe.
