TGW to automate Kave Home’s new Spanish fulfilment hub
Furniture and home décor retailer Kave Home has appointed TGW Logistics to automate a new fulfilment centre in Tordera, near Barcelona. The site is planned to become operational at the end of 2028 and will serve the company’s e-commerce, retail and B2B channels.
The project addresses a difficult automation brief: Kave Home handles products ranging from compact packages measuring 400 x 300mm to bulky items up to 2,400 x 1,200mm. Rather than separating these flows into disconnected systems, TGW has designed one logistics architecture capable of coordinating the different product categories.
One platform for multiple product profiles
The planned installation will combine miniload technology, high-bay automated storage, autonomous mobile robots and automated palletising. Goods from the miniload area, pallet warehouse and double-pallet warehouse will converge in a common palletising zone, creating a more unified flow from storage to dispatch.
Conveyor systems will link the facility’s processes, while Cartesian robots will handle palletising and depalletising. TGW’s Quba mobile robots are specified for pallet and roll-cage movements. Automated storage areas will reach heights of up to 25 metres, and ergonomic picking stations will include automatic palletising and wrapping.
Capacity designed for expansion
When fully operational, the hub is expected to handle as many as 21,000 packages per day and provide 93,000 pallet positions. That represents more than twice Kave Home’s current storage capacity, giving the retailer room to support growth across its sales channels and international network.
The company, headquartered in Girona, operates in more than 80 countries through online sales, stores, marketplaces and B2B activity, with more than 100 points of sale. The expanded platform is intended to improve delivery speed, picking accuracy and consistency between customer channels.
Kave Home CEO Francesc Julià described TGW as an important project partner. TGW executives Albert Vidal and Anselm Bolea said the companies had worked on the solution for several months, with the system intended to strengthen operational efficiency as Kave Home expands.
