Hörmann redesigns dock leveller for flexible loading bays

Hörmann’s HTL3 combines modular sizing, stronger components and easier servicing to support new construction and refurbishment projects.

Hörmann redesigns dock leveller for flexible loading bays

Hörmann has introduced the HTL3, a modular dock leveller aimed at operators that need reliable loading-bay performance without being locked into a single installation format. The platform is designed for both new facilities and the modernisation of existing loading infrastructure.

One platform, several installation scenarios

The HTL3 is independently tested to EN 1398 and is offered in three versions. Its standard configuration has a compact footprint for new-build applications and relatively straightforward replacements. The R version adds a variable adaptor, allowing the leveller’s width and length to be adjusted to an existing pit. That flexibility is particularly relevant where a facility cannot be rebuilt around a standard opening.

For industrial companies, the modular approach can simplify project planning by combining a common core product with application-specific options. It also gives refurbishment teams more scope to adapt equipment to the conditions already present on site.

Designed for demanding loading cycles

High-strength steel forms the main structure, while a redesigned and thicker telescopic lip is intended to withstand heavy use. Hörmann states that the lip provides approximately 50% greater fatigue resistance under peak loads than the previous design. Improved resistance to lane grooves should also support smoother operation in busy loading areas, where repeated vehicle movements place additional demands on the platform.

Maintenance access has been improved, and the hydraulic arrangement has been optimised to make installation and servicing less complicated. The practical objective is to reduce time spent working on the leveller and limit interruptions to dock activity.

The compact design also reduces the space required for transport. This can lower transport demand and associated costs, while supporting sustainability objectives in warehouse and industrial development projects. More information on Hörmann’s industrial solutions is available from the company.
