Moffett Automation invests €4m in Monaghan technology centre

Moffett Automation has begun groundwork for a new Centre of Excellence at its headquarters in Clontibret, County Monaghan. The company is investing €4 million in the facility, which will combine research and development with practical demonstrations of warehouse automation technology.

The project is intended to show how software intelligence and engineered systems can operate as one solution around real warehouse requirements. Rather than presenting automation as a collection of separate machines, the centre will provide a setting in which control software, equipment and operational processes can be developed and assessed together.

A test environment for integrated automation

Moffett Automation’s offering brings together software, automation engineering and support throughout the system lifecycle. The new site is expected to give the company a dedicated environment for refining that integrated approach and demonstrating it to customers and partners.

Its relevance extends beyond product presentation. Warehouse operators assessing automation need to understand how systems respond to the practical demands of their facilities, while integrators need confidence that digital tools and physical equipment can be coordinated in project delivery. A dedicated demonstration and development space can help make those interactions visible before deployment.

The company works with a global network of integrator partners and also delivers projects directly. That combination gives the centre a potential role in both technology development and the wider partner ecosystem, although no detailed timetable or further construction specifications have been announced.

Groundwork marks first construction phase

Sam Moffett, founder and managing director, described the start of construction as an important step for the Monaghan team. He said the facility would support development work and demonstrate the practical relationship between software and engineering, informed by the challenges faced by customers and partners.

The groundwork is the first stage of construction at the headquarters site. Once completed, the Centre of Excellence will provide a physical base for exploring warehouse automation concepts and showing how they can be applied in operational environments. Further information is available through the company’s Centre of Excellence information page.
