Loadsmart brings Opendock yard automation to Brazil
Loadsmart has introduced its Opendock freight-scheduling and yard-management platform in Brazil, using the Intra-Log Expo South America in São Paulo to mark its entry into the market.
The cloud-based system is designed to connect appointment planning with operations at the gatehouse, yard and loading docks. By replacing separate email, phone and spreadsheet workflows, it gives warehouses and distribution centres a shared view of vehicle movements and scheduled arrivals.

Automation from appointment to departure
Opendock supports real-time asset tracking, yard-layout configuration and two-way communication with drivers. Its SmartGate capability adds AI-based computer vision: cameras record vehicle arrivals and departures and associate the visual information with the relevant appointment.
That combination is intended to reduce uncertainty at busy industrial sites. Operators can see when vehicles arrive, where they are in the process and whether dock activity is progressing as planned, rather than relying on repeated manual updates.
Loadsmart says the platform is already used by more than 4,000 warehouses and 230,000 carriers worldwide, handling over 14 million appointments annually. Company figures from US operations between 2022 and 2024 indicate a 62% reduction in waiting times, a 31% rise in dock turnover and an 88% improvement in punctuality. Appointment-confirmation contacts fell by 45% in the same comparison.
Brazil offers a demanding use case
Loadsmart identifies Brazil as a priority market for its Latin American expansion. Ricardo Salgado and Felipe Capella founded the company in 2014, and its business has so far been concentrated mainly in North America.
Capella said waiting at large Brazilian logistics facilities can average as much as 11 hours, compared with under two hours in the United States. He also cited logistics costs of approximately 15.5% of Brazilian GDP, versus 8.8% in the US.
The company presented Opendock at booth 807 during Intra-Log, where its teams spoke with manufacturers, warehouses, distribution centres, carriers, shippers and logistics providers. For industrial companies, the expansion highlights how digital appointment control and automated yard visibility can become practical tools for increasing throughput without adding fragmented coordination work.
